Genesis Energy is proud to be a main ingredient in My Kitchen Rules New Zealand, and the energy behind great kiwi cooking.

Watch the kiwi culinary drama unfold, as teams of two battle to show off their cooking skills and impress award-winning local judges Ben Bayly (head Chef at The Grove and Baduzzi) and Gareth Stewart (Head Chef at Soul Bar and Bistro), in the quest to be the first ever winner of MKR New Zealand. Joining them at the kitchen HQ judging table is a stellar line-up of local guest chefs including Nadia Min (MasterChef NZ winner) and acclaimed restaurateur Sean Connolly.

And when you’re creating greatness in your own kitchen try to be energy efficient, as cooking makes up about 70% of your energy bill and refrigeration 11%*

Here are some handy hints and tips:

  • A microwave oven is the most energy efficient, followed by a slow cooker, then a hob and oven.
  • Use the kettle to boil water then add to a pot.
  • Flat-bottomed pans that are the same size as the element retain heat best.
  • Don’t put hot food in the fridge, allow food to cool to room temperature.
