James Hardies Smarter Small Homes

There was a time when you didn’t have to be rich to own a smart, modern, well designed home.
But since the 1980s, the cost of the average New Zealand home has more than doubled in relation to incomes.
Things have got so tight that interest.co.nz recently said the median income of the typical buyer is no longer enough to buy a median priced house, even with a 20% deposit.
In 2009, James Hardie took the bull by the horns and launched The Smarter Small Home initiative. You can find out more at www.smartersmallhome.co.nz
It changes everything….
The revolution in home design & construction is here
It all came to fruition in May and it’s one that got the approval of the Mayor of Auckland, Len Brown. The Smarter Small Home is an architecturally designed home that NZ can now afford. It’s all about smarter design, smarter construction and smarter products.

The show home designed by Creative Arch and built by Latitude Homes was officiated by the Mayor of Auckland, Len Brown. Among the attendees were Olympic gold medallist and world champion Hamish Bond. There were representatives from the Ministry of Business Innovation and Employment as well as key figures from the Auckland City Council.
Jennian Homes is currently building another Smarter Small Home show home in Ellerslie and it is scheduled to be opened in July – this show home will bring another dimension to the Smarter Small Home series.
