New Renovation Home opens in Ellerslie, Auckland

23-Sep-2010
Officially open to the public from yesterday, Wednesday 22nd September, the Ellerslie Renovation Home is the latest in the nation-wide Tomorrow's Showhome initiative for Future-Proof Building.

Located at the corner of Tecoma Street (off the southern motorway) and Roberts Road, the Renovation Open Home puts the principles of Future-Proof Building into action.

The home showcases some of the newest innovations for home automation, energy-efficient heating, technology to keep the home healthy, rain water harvesting, efficient lighting design, outdoor living, landscaping and so much more.

Visitors to the home can see and use actual products in a realistic installed environment - an actual family home.

What FPB did was go out and buy a typical early-1900’s kiwi weatherboard home. The roof was lifted to add a second storey. The home was rewired throughout. Insulation was added, rotting timber and old joinery replaced, and a re-design incorporated aesthetical features to meet the needs of kiwis' lifestyles today and in the future. It was then finished in the latest colours, textures and furnishings.

The home is open Wednesday-Friday 11am-4pm and Saturday-Sunday 10am-4pm. Phone ahead to confirm your visit on (09) 846-6060.
