eDay, a community initiative launched in Wellington in 2006, will this year be held in 40 centres across NZ on Saturday 6th November.
The purpose of eDay is to raise awareness of the hazardous nature of electronic waste (e-waste) and the benefits of recycling computers and other e-waste. eDay offers an easy way for households and schools to dispose of old computers and mobile phones in an environmentally sound manner.
Organisers this year are aiming to divert as much as 1,300 tonnes of e-waste from landfills, up from last year's record of 976 tonnes. Local drive-through collection points are provided in participating centres for homeowners and schools to conveniently drop off their e-waste.
Recycling electronic waste (e-waste) enables the recovery and reuse of valuable materials and ensures toxic materials are not buried in our landfills, so it's better for our environment. Learn more about eDay, including where the drop-off points in your area are and what can be recycled, at the eDay website here.
