As consumers, home owners in the 21st century are constantly on the lookout for new ways to future proof their home.

Whether a new building, renovation of an existing dwelling or simply when considering home improvements, future proofing is an important step to consider.

Many home owners are already choosing fittings and appliances which improve energy efficiency and help to reduce their overall energy consumption. However as society gravitates towards cleaner, renewable sources of energy, consumers now have the option of taking the concept of energy efficiency further. Installing solar PV will not only further reduce energy spend; it can potentially eliminate it all together.

Solar power is clean, renewable and abundant. The amount of sunlight striking earth in any given hour contains enough light energy to meet the entire world’s total energy consumption for one year – making solar PV one of the most indispensable sources of clean energy and once harnessed, can provide huge energy saving benefits.

Which system is right for your home?

Mitsubishi Electric has recently launched an online solar calculator to assist homeowners in calculating the benefits of renewable energy at the touch of a button. As a tool, the online solar calculator can provide home owners an idea of the ideal solar PV system for their home. Estimates are made based on four key criteria; the household’s monthly power bill (kW usage), cost per kW unit (incl GST), what roof type the home has, and the region the house is located in.

Not only this, the online solar calculator estimates annual energy generation and provides estimated annual savings, giving the homeowner peace of mind when it comes to rising power bills. Additionally, Mitsubishi Electric takes the hassle out of the process by breaking down the componentry of the suggested system and as well as directing consumers to a specialised installer in their area.

To find out which system is right for you please visit Mitsubishi Electric’s Solar Power website at www.mitsubishi-electric.co.nz/solar/ and select ‘Choose the right one’.
